Completing the physical installation of a pulse reader does not automatically mean that a remote meter reading system is ready for operation. Before devices are placed into daily service, utilities typically perform a commissioning process to verify that each installation functions correctly under real operating conditions.

Commissioning provides an opportunity to confirm that the pulse reader detects meter pulses accurately, communicates reliably with the network, and has been configured according to project requirements. These verification steps help identify installation or configuration issues before they affect large-scale operations.

A typical commissioning workflow begins with confirming the mechanical installation.
