Split-type Pulse Readers: A Flexible Choice for Existing Meter Retrofit Projects
Modern utility networks contain a wide variety of existing meter installations. While many locations allow direct installation of an integrated pulse reader, others present practical challenges due to cabinet dimensions, pipe layouts, surrounding equipment, or maintenance requirements.
Split-type pulse readers address these situations by separating the sensing component from the communication module. This design allows installers to position the communication unit in a more accessible location while maintaining reliable pulse acquisition from the existing meter.
The additional installation flexibility offers several operational advantages. It reduces the need to modify existing infrastructure, simplifies installation in confined spaces, and improves accessibility for future inspection and maintenance.
